    Continental Divide: Borderlands Wildlife, People and The Wall

    Continental Divide: Borderlands Wildlife, People and The Wall” is a photo exhibition examining the effect of the Southern border wall on the native people, land and wildlife. The Hudson Valley Writing Project at SUNY New Paltz will host a walking photo tour of the exhibition in the McKenna Theatre Lobby on Wednesday, Oct. 16 at 5:30 p.m. A panel discussion will follow from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in College Terrace. The event is free and open to the public. The exhibition opened on Oct. 1 and is currently on display.   • “Locations 101” Film Workshop

    “Locations 101” Film Workshop

    The Governor’s Office of Motion Picture and Television Development will host “Locations 101,” a workshop for film students, on Thursday, Oct. 17 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Honors Center in College Hall. Laura Berning, the organization’s location manager, will present a lecture followed by a Q&A session. The workshop will introduce students to location scouting and management, scouting tools and other resources. The workshop is free and open to the public.     The SUNY New Paltz Biology Department welcomes all students to the campus greenhouse outside the Coykendall Science Building every Thursday beginning Oct. 10. Students can attend between 1-4 p.m. until Thursday, Dec. 5. The event is open to the public.     The SUNY New Paltz Department of Theatre Arts will showcase “In the Time of the Butterflies,” a play directed by Estefania Fadu based on the bestselling novel by Julia Álvarez. The play will run on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from Oct. 3 to 6 and Oct. 17 to 20 in Parker Theatre. Tickets will be available for purchase online starting Sept. 23.     The SUNY New Paltz English Department will host a reception to honor the life of poet, scholar and professor Pauline Uchmanowicz. The event will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 18 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Coykendall Science Building auditorium. The event is open to faculty, staff, alumni and students.
