    The African Women Alliance will be hosting its annual Niabinji, "A Night of Expression" on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 7 p.m. in the Student Union Building multi-purpose room.     Climate Theatre Action

    The Climate Change Theatre Action and Hudson River Playback Theatre are hosting the second of two special theatre events in conjunction with the UN climate talks at Denizen Theatre on Sunday, Nov. 3 at 7:30 p.m. Admission is allowed via donation of any amount. All proceeds will be donated to the New Paltz Climate Action Coalition.

    The SUNY New Paltz Biology Department welcomes all students to the campus greenhouse outside the Coykendall Science Building every Thursday beginning Oct. 10. Students can attend between 1-4 p.m. until Thursday, Dec. 5. The event is open to the public.     25th Annual Multicultural Education Conference

    The Humanistic/Multicultural Education MPS Program, Campus Auxiliary Services, Black Studies Department, Educational Opportunity Program and the School of Education at SUNY New Paltz are hosting the 25th annual Multicultural Education Conference on Friday Nov. 8 at 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Student Union Building. Keynote speaker Dr. Michelle Fine will speak about "Teacher Wisdom for Building Inclusive and Engaging Classrooms in Contentious Times" and the TMI Project will present storytelling from Black Stories Matter and Locker Room Talk. Registration is $10 for students and $50 for general admission. The deadline to register is Oct. 25.     New Paltz Challenge River-to-Ridge Fall 5K and 10K

    New Paltz Challenge will host its second annual River-to-Ridge Fall 5K and 10K races on Sunday, Nov. 10 at the River-to-Ridge trailhead, 41 Springtown Rd. in New Paltz. The 10K begins at 8 a.m. and the 5K begins at 8:30 a.m. Registration details and additional information are available online.

    Reading of “Janis: Her Life and Music”

    Professor and author Holly George-Warren will read from her new biography about Janis Joplin, “Janis: Her Life and Music” on Nov. 12 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Honors Center in College Hall. There will be a Q&A about her book. This event is free and open to the public.

    Panel Discussion--Parking: Cars in Communities

    The Benjamin Center will host a panel discussion on Wednesday, Nov. 13 from 8-11 a.m. at the College Terrace. This will focus on the development of new planning approaches to guide the use of cars in our community. The panelists will be city planners and transportation engineers in the Mid-Hudson area. The event will cost $15 and includes a locally sourced breakfast.

Show times are Friday, Nov. 15 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 16 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 17 at 2 p.m. in the John R. Kirk Planetarium in the Coykendall Science Building. The performance will include “Hallelujah Junction,” “Piano Phase” and “China Gates,” accompanying a display overhead of constellations and celestial motions. General admission tickets start at $8, $6 for faculty/staff/seniors and $3 for students. Tickets can be purchased online here, or at the door.     The SUNY New Paltz Foundation will sponsor a talk by Garrard Conley for his bestselling memoir, “Boy Erased,” about growing up in a fundamentalist household and attending a conversion therapy program on Nov. 19 from 5-7 p.m. in Lecture Center 100. A book signing and reception will immediately follow the talk in the Lecture Center south lobby. This event is free and open to the public.     On Thursday, Oct. 24 and Nov. 21, the SUNY New Paltz University Police Department is hosting a free Narcan training. Participants will receive a free Narcan kit and learn how to administer Narcan to reduce the risk of an opiate/heroin overdose, as well as learn rescue breathing and tips on overdose prevention.
