February 4, 2020On Tuesday, Feb. 4 there will be a round table discussion as part of the SUNY New Paltz Black Lives Matter week of action from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m in the Student Union Building Multipurpose Room. Past, present and future campus community members will share their experiences about struggles for justice at SUNY New Paltz. This event is free, open to the public and refreshments will be served. February 5, 2020On Wednesday, Feb. 5 the Psychological Counseling Center, OASIS/HAVEN, and the Office of Human Resources, Diversity and Inclusion will host the LGBTQ+ Mental Health Awareness Day at 2 p.m. in Student Union Room 418. At the event, representatives will hold a discussion about on-campus resources, wellness and LGBTQ+ barriers with mental health. Participants will also be able to create their own self-care plan and ask anonymous questions. This event is free, open to the public and will provide free pizza. February 6, 2020On Thursday, Feb. 6 there will be a panel discussion about anti-racism in the classroom from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in Lecture Center 102. At the discussion, both students and professors will make up the panel. The discussion is apart of Black Lives Matter At School week of action. This discussion is free and open to SUNY New Paltz students, faculty and staff.

February 9, 2020The Woodstock Film Festival will host an Oscar viewing party on Sunday, February 9 at 7 p.m. at Rough Draft Bar and Books. Complimentary hors d’oeuvres will be provided along with a cash bar. Along with the awards viewing, arrive early to enter a 50/50 ballot for oscar winners in each category and a number of other raffles from local businesses. Rough Draft Bar and Books is located at 82 John street, in Kingston, New York. This event is free and open to the public, although donations are appreciated and space is limited. February 10, 2020On Monday February 10, Ted Toadvine will be presenting a lecture titled, “Why Are We Obsessed with the End of the World?” in Lecture Center 102 from 5 to 7 p.m. In this talk, Toadvine, an associate professor of sociology at Pennsylvania State University, discusses the threat of climate collapse and the controversy over the apocalyptic narrative of present day planet earth. This talk is the first spring event of the “Without Limits: Interdisciplinary Conversations in the Liberal Arts” series, continuing the year-long examination of the Anthropocene. Levine's new book, "A Year of Belonging," a collection of 52 reflections and practices for adults worried about the emotional and social well-being of their community's young population.
