October 2, 2019 – October 6, 2019The Woodstock Film Festival will celebrate their 20th anniversary from Wednesday, Oct. 2 to Sunday, Oct. 6. The festival will take place at local theatres and venues in Woodstock, Rhinebeck, Rosendale, Saugerties, Kingston and Boiceville. Tickets start at $10. October 3, 2019 – October 6, 2019The SUNY New Paltz Department of Theatre Arts will showcase “In the Time of the Butterflies,” a play directed by Estefania Fadu based on the bestselling novel by Julia Álvarez. The play will run on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from Oct. 3 to 6 and Oct. 17 to 20 in Parker Theatre. Tickets will be available for purchase online starting Sept. 23. October 8, 2019Ulster Crime Victims Assistance Program will host a survivor support event on Tuesday, Oct. 8 from noon to 3 p.m. in the courtyard outside the Sojourner Truth Library. The event aims to create a safe space to discuss challenging topics and to provide resources to survivors. The event is free to the public. October 9, 2019SUNY New Paltz will host a student panel and discussion recognizing LGBTQ+ identities on National Coming Out Day on Wednesday, Oct. 9 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in the Honors Center in College Hall. Student panelists will share their stories and discuss various themes relating to coming out. The event is free and open to the public. October 10, 2019The SUNY New Paltz Biology Department welcomes all students to the campus greenhouse outside the Coykendall Science Building every Thursday beginning Oct. 10. Students can attend between 1-4 p.m. until Thursday, Dec. 5. The event is open to the public.
