Cortland, NY – The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) announced its weekly awards Monday. State University of New York at New Paltz senior forward, Philesha Teape, was named as the women’s basketball SUNYAC/PrestoSports Athlete of the Week following a stand-out weekend.

Teape won the first SUNYAC weekly honor after putting up career numbers at the Tufts Tournament Tip-Off on Nov. 15 and Nov. 16. She registered a career-high 21 points to go along with a game-high 13 rebounds to lead her team to a 76-56 win over MIT Friday. She shot 9-for-13 from the floor, setting career-highs in both attempts and makes, while also adding an assist and a steal to her stat total in 28 minutes of action. Teape backed up that performance with her third-straight double-double outing after finishing with 11 points and 10 rebounds against Tufts Saturday, while adding a block and a steal. Over the weekend, she totaled 23 boards, 10 of which came off the offensive glass, while shooting a combined 65% from the field.

Through three games, the Jamaica, NY native has averaged nearly 14 points and 12 rebounds per game, while shooting a team-high of 63% from the floor, making 17-of-27 attempts. She leads the SUNYAC in field goal percentage, while sitting second in offensive rebounds with 18 and fourth overall in total rebounds with 35.

Teape and the Hawks are back in action Nov. 26 for their home-opener against Vassar College in the Hawk Center at 7 p.m.
