Every year, The Bakery in New Paltz hosts an annual pumpkin carving contest, titled “Night of 100 Pumpkins.” The contest has 15 categories; each category has a sub-category for adults and children.  All children and adults from the New Paltz Community were able to participate in this annual contest.David Santner, the owner of The Bakery said this year’s contest had over 15 categories. Some of those categories were “The Classic Jack,” “The Pretty” pumpkins, and “The Petrifying” pumpkin. This year, The Bakery only received about 100 participants for the contest, which is about 50 less participants than the year before.  Santer attributed this to the fact that many people had a hard time finding pumpkins as a result of Hurricane Irene.
