Sweet Treats: Moxie Cupcakes

Cupcakes are delicious, sugary, covered in frosting and coveted by children everywhere.

Recently, cupcakes have made a comeback and are not just for children anymore. One local bakery’s use of sophisticated recipes and elegant designs have put this classic treat back on the map.

Moxie Cupcake’s pink and brown exterior manages to be feminine and vintage, without losing the chic, sophisticated feel that makes the store relevant to all ages and tastes. At the moment, the store is decorated for Halloween and the walls are lined with giant spiders, giving a freaky-fun look to the store. The interior doesn’t disappoint either. Large, leather lounges sit in the corner and a booth sits under the inside window. Vintage bottles line the window sills, catching the light flowing in the store. It’s clear that the store took an innovative, interesting, and unique approach in creating a relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere.

And if the ambiance is good, then the service is impeccable. Someone is always there to greet you and help you out with whatever request you have. The staff is friendly—without being pushy and is more than willing to help you out with any question about the food or shop.

But, the star of the store is the food itself.

The cupcakes they sell are one of the rare foods that actually taste better than they look. Cupcakes with names such as Annie get your Gun, Salt away my Sugar and Vanilla Sky are regular favorites. Moxie is selling limited edition cupcakes for Halloween, called Monster Mash, which boast a delicious mix of caramel and vanilla. It’s clear after tasting why Moxie earned the “Best of the Hudson Valley 2011” distinction in Hudson Valley Magazine’s  annual list of Upstate New York’s best food, shopping and entertainment.

Each ingredient chosen for the cupcakes is of high quality. Moxie’s cupcakes boast no preservatives, and nothing is pre-made, with the store having its own kitchen on site. Local produce, dairy and eggs as well as organic and fair-trade cocoa are also used.

Moxie Cupcakes is more than just a cupcake shop. It’s a place that represents a trend and a culture that is interested in good food and quality ingredients. Moxie provides a place where you can enjoy delicious cuisine in an environment that is hospitable and relaxing, allowing you to really enjoy a sweet treat.

Jewelry, food and drinks are also sold, allowing patrons to have an extensive choice of what they want to try when visiting the shop. ‘Pupcakes’ and other sweet treats for the pets are available—so it’s not just the humans who get to experience these delightful products. Moxie Cupcake also has a station with a variety of sprinkles, providing patrons with a way to decorate their delectable delights.
