Cooling Off at High Falls

  • High Falls, part of the Rondout Creek, is a popular local spot for swimming and cliff jumping. Only 15 minutes from the SUNY New Paltz campus, the falls are often overflowing with college students on warm weekends.
  • SUNY New Paltz third-year students Kaitlin Fanning (left) and Allison Montvidas (right) scope out the best path to the waterfall.
  • Fanning and Montvidas climb atop a warm rock before diving into the cold water.
  • Fanning and Montvidas race across the creek. First to a sun-warmed boulder wins!
  • Montvidas explores the rocky cliff portion of the waterfall.
  • Fanning and Montvidas pose victoriously in front of the waterfall.
