School Pride Soars as New Paltz Wins Mascot Madness

The first ever SUNY Mascot Madness competition ended at noon on Thursday with Facebook statuses around the SUNY New Paltz campus inquiring: “Did we win?” New Paltz’s Hugo the Hawk and Wolfie the Seawolf from Stony Brook raced to the finish and after hours of waiting, Hugo was announced the official winner. Although the number of votes hasn’t been released, SUNY New Paltz students were thrilled to come out on top against schools like Purchase, Cortland and Maritime. With no official reward, SUNY New Paltz considered the real prize the opportunity to show our school pride.
