Kandee Johnson is a professional make-up artist, well known among the YouTube community for her extensive D.I.Y. videos and tutorials. She uploads YouTube videos and posts to her blog nearly every day, keeping viewers constantly updated. Her goal is to share her knowledge as a make-up artist with the world.
Johnson shows fun tricks to do with hair, crafts and fun wardrobe ideas. She wants to touch people’s lives. The blog was not made for profit, but she devotes time out of her busy life to update it. The content is heavily user generated and though inspiration may have come elsewhere, her ideas are always represented.
Once you enter the home page, there is a fun, colorful banner with a picture of Johnson and links directly below for easy navigation. The links are straight-forward and lined up in the following order: Home, About Me, Tutorials, Style Crafts, My Other Blog!, FAQs, Featured In and Contests!!!. These are categorized effectively and gets the user where he/she wants to go in terms of content. Also on the home page is her most recent post. You can scroll down to see earlier posts, though scrolling is not infinite. If you want to see posts from months ago, there is the blog archive on the right side, along with links to her Facebook page, Twitter updates, and top YouTube videos. The website may not be professional, but it is easy to tell there was a lot of work put into it and the blog is user friendly. It is visually pleasing and pictures are available along with the text to enhance the reader’s experience.
